Three Engagement Ring Trends IN 2023

Read on to learn all about my predictions for the most popular ring designs in 2023.

(1) Multi Stone Rings

Moi e Toi Rings (Two Stone Rings) have been showing up more and more on celebrities -Take Emily Ratajkowski & Megan Fox, as just two examples.

You will see lots of designer’s replicating this style in a mix of colored stones and a number of different combinations of fancy shaped diamonds (oval, pear, emerald). They can be really unique and appealing to the person who wants their ring to be like none other.

The Moi e Toi Design also allows you to effortlessly infuse a family heirloom diamond. And because the two stones are intentionally mis-matched in shape, you can also get away with a different quality between the stones. For example you can use a colored stone and a diamond, or you can use two diamonds that aren’t a perfect match in terms of color - one can be warmer in color (more yellow) than the other, and it doesn’t take away from the design or beauty of the ring.

Unlike the traditional three stone ring, where you want all three diamonds to match in terms of color, clarity and overall quality.

Whether it’s a two stone, three stone, or five stone ring, I think you will find more people interested in “multi stone rings” than in previous years. The pendulum always swings so far in one direction that it needs to swing back in the other. And the solitaire has been the “it” ring for so many years now that I think people are craving something more unusual, more special, more unexpected.

The multi-stone ring really helps couples express their own personality and story in their ring. What better way to do that, then custom design through custom design?

(2) Antique Diamonds

I think one of the greatest benefits of choosing to custom design your ring is that you can really make your ring your own...special, unique, like none other.

For this reason, antique and vintage cut diamonds are so popular you can hardly get your hands on them (Don’t worry! We have the best connections in the industry and have you covered - wink wink!).

Old Mines, Old Euros, Antique Cushions, each have their own unique attributes and also can vary tremendously from one diamond to another.

This is part of what makes hand-selecting your vintage cut diamond so personal. I think this encapsulates the draw of antique cut diamonds - their personality, their charm.

And! It helps that they are recycled…meaning they are a sustainable choice. They are often repurposed from vintage jewelry, and the decision to purchase one can feel good for that reason. You’re not mining and impacting our planet.

Vintage diamonds are a sustainable choice… which leads me to my third trend of 2023.

It might surprise you!

(3) Lab Grown Diamonds

The pandemic has impacted the cost of nearly every traded commodity and natural resource, diamonds included. This is one of the reasons that Lab Grown Diamonds are spiking in popularity.

Natural diamonds prices are at an all time high, making Lab Growns an appealing alternative. A Lab Grown Diamond is a real diamond, and in my opinion it’s the best alternative to a natural diamond - because it is a diamond. It has the same chemical make up, the same optical properties, the same hardness, the same sparkle and brilliance… but it’s a fraction the cost of a natural diamond.

What I love about a Lab Grown Diamond is that is empowers the consumer. YOU get to choose …what you value, what you want and why.

And to me, that is the primary goal when you set out to custom design your engagement ring or invest in any type of purchase that is intended to be a sentimental, emotional keepsake meant to last a lifetime (many lifetimes, actually).
